Sound Freaq SFQ01 hands-on

Is there still room for more iPod speaker docks?  New company Sound Freaq reckon so, and their SFQ01 is an attempt to take a slice of the lucrative market.  Designed with – as they themselves said – love-it or hate-it aesthetics, the slab-sided dock system promises above-average sound quality thanks to the company’s own UQ DSP system.  Meanwhile, a companion iPad app allows for straightforward remote control, together with streaming from the Apple slate itself.

KT Identity Tab Android WiBro tablet outed; Samsung does a double-take

Korean carrier KT has outed their own 7-inch tablet, the KT Identity Tab, packing a 1GHz processor, 8GB of internal storage, DMB TV tuner and HDMI connectivity.  Bundled with WiBro data service, the Identity Tab also has WiFi and Bluetooth, together with a 3-megapixel camera on the back.

RIM BlackBerry patent describes convertible touchscreen/QWERTY phone

A newly filed patent application by RIM suggests the cellphone manufacturers designers are considering an extending, rotating form-factor that could allow for multiple hardware control surfaces such as a QWERTY keyboard and numeric keypad.  The application, titled “Handheld electronic device with rotatable member”, shows a phone with a pull-out second section that could be used in portrait or landscape orientation depending on messaging or phone use; however it could also offer a hardware keyboard on one side and a touchscreen display on the other.
